German museum to re-create beloved polar bear cub with his own fur
2/14/2013Poor Knut. The world-famous polar bear who stole hearts around the world as a cub died two years ago at the age of 4 under mysterious circumstances. Now comes word that a natural history museum in his hometown of Berlin will build a life-size model of Knut — and it'll be covered in the bear's own pelt. "It's important to make clear we haven't had Knut stuffed," a museum official said. Fake Knut and his real fur will go on display for a special four-week exhibit starting Saturday before going into storage. He’ll return for a 2014 exhibition on climate change. [Source]
