'Serial infector' with hepatitis C tainted patient syringes, cops say
7/29/2012On the heels of a dentist possibly transmitting HIV, a man with Hepatitis C is being called a “serial infector” after he allegedly stole Fentanyl syringes intended for patients, injected himself and then replaced the used syringes refilled with a saline-like liquid. David Kwiatkowski, a former lab technician at Exeter Hospital in New Hampshire, has already been indicted for infecting 31 patients with the virus, but officials are saying more than 10,000 people are potentially in danger. "If he knew that he was infected and he put those needles back on the shelf, that is the definition of evil," said Dr. Richard Besser, health editor for ABC. The state health department is urging anyone who was a patient in surgery or intensive care at Exeter to get tested. [Source]
