Lakers hire a new coach, shunning predicted favorite Phil Jackson
11/12/2012The Lakers have a new coach and it's not who everyone expected. Phil Jackson, it seems, got too greedy in his demands, and the owners went with budget-friendly Mike D'Antoni. "He was asking for the moon," a source said of Jackson, while D'Antoni was happy to sign a more grounded three-year deal for $12 million and will replace Mike Brown who was fired after the Lakers began the season at 1-4. Although we gotta say, this new Mike's previous gig with the Knicks doesn't exactly make him look like the guy to turn this around — last season he was forced to resign after a pitiful 18-24 start. One disappointed fan commented: "Mired in mediocrity should be our new slogan." [Source]
