It's gotta burn when your $200,000 ride bursts into flames

9/14/2012

Bad news for wealthy car collectors, but shamefully satisfying for those of us driving around in ancient clunkers: Spending $200,000 on a fancy car doesn't guarantee it won't suddenly catch on fire. Lamborghini is recalling 1,491 Gallardo coupes and Spyders (model years 2004 through 2006, if you're among the lucky few who need that info) due to a faulty pipe that could leak power-steering fluid onto the engine and spark a fire. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says the leak has already caused three fires, but owner forums are reportedly rife with "photos and video of the cars either engulfed in flames on the roadside or their frames burnt to the ground." That's gotta burn. [Source]
