Awesomely terrifying eel monster caught in New Jersey

2/27/2013

Jokes about New Jersey aside, Garden State fisherman Doug Cutler landed a creature straight out of a fever dream. Using, yes, a bow and arrow, he skewered a 3-foot-long eel-like monstrosity with a formidable mouthful of jagged teeth. And while it’s much more fun to believe it’s some kind of mutant sea beast, kill-joy scientists at Outdoor magazine are claiming it’s a large sea lamprey, a breed that’s been showing up in Jersey waters of late as older, potentially dangerous dams have been demolished. The only question left is whether you broil it or deep fry it. [Source]
