Armstrong whistleblowers rip cycling honcho for 'scumbags' remark

10/23/2012

The fallout continues in the Lance Armstrong doping mess. At a press conference yesterday, Pat McQuaid, head of professional cycling’s governing body, branded Armstrong whistleblowers Tyler Hamilton and Floyd Landis "scumbags" and "as far from heroes as night and day." Now Hamilton is calling for McQuaid to lose his post, saying his comments expose his hypocrisy and reveal he has "no place in cycling." Sheesh. Getting this sport back on track will be a steep uphill climb. Armstrong, meanwhile, has removed from Twitter any mention of the seven Tour de France wins he's been stripped of. His profile now reads, "Raising my five kids. Fighting Cancer. Swim, bike, run and golf whenever I can." [Source]
