Man raids family's piggy banks, pays $14,000 tax bill with coins
1/18/2013A penny saved is a penny that can be used toward your property tax bill. And, to coin a new phrase, writing checks is for people with no flair for the dramatic. Larry Gasper has brought home both those messages by paying his $14,000 tax bill in $1 bills and quarters, dimes, nickels and pennies, which he hand-rolled and delivered in a wheelbarrow and recycling buckets. The Redding, Calif., resident, who's had some recent financial setbacks, told ABC 57 he raided "my grandkid's piggy banks, my daughter's piggy banks, my money [and] my change" and got help from other kind people to pay off the debt. Uncle Sam can probably overlook a little pocket lint. [Source]
