Laura Bush is for gay marriage, but don't put her in gay marriage ads
2/21/2013Back in 2010, when Laura Bush was apparently in a more open frame of mind about gay marriage, she said on CNN, "When couples are committed to each other and love each other, then they ought to have the same sort of rights that everyone has." These days, maybe not so much. Now that the CNN clip has been used in a $1 million TV, print and online campaign for the Respect for Marriage Coalition — the ad also features gay-rights advocates Dick Cheney and President Obama — the former first lady wants out. According to Bush spokeswoman Anne MacDonald, Bush "did not approve of her inclusion in this advertisement nor is she associated with the group that made the ad in any way." [Source]
