NYC woman will get her kicks as first female to try out for the NFL
2/21/2013Our money is still on little Sam Gordon to be the first female to make an NFL roster, but she won't be the first to try. Lauren Silberman, a one-time college club soccer player from New York City, has signed up to participate in one of the league's regional combines in March as a kicker. Silberman acknowledges she's a long shot, and it almost sounds more like a stunt to promote her consulting business Double Play Media, which helps athletes use video games for training purposes. Colts punter Pat McAfee checked out a video of her kicking and tweeted that she might need to used a banned substance: "She's gonna need a lot of deer antler spray b4 her tryout...But it's still cool she's out there trying."
