Lawmaker drops fight against dwarf-tossing ban
4/13/2012A Florida lawmaker has abandoned his attempt to get the state's ban on dwarf tossing repealed. State representative Ritch Workman claimed the ban "prevented some dwarfs from getting jobs they would be happy to get," and, as he told Florida Today, there shouldn't be laws prohibiting someone of sane mind to "make their own decision to act like a fool." But now he's letting go of efforts to repeal the ban after a doctor from New York with dwarfism, citing a lifetime of embarrassing moments, contacted him and asked him to please drop the issue. Workman agreed and, while he says he isn't "wrong on the liberty issue," he admits human dignity is more important. Way to be the bigger man.
Is the ban an affront to liberty?
