Weed-happy states could experience a marijuana tourism boom
11/10/2012Stoners around the country were, like, wayyyyy beyond stoked, dude, when voters in Washington state and Colorado passed ballot initiatives last week to legalize marijuana for recreational use. But this biggest-ever victory for the pot legalization movement could also, according to the Washington Post, open doors to a marijuana tourism boom in those ever-so-chill states. What would pot tourism look like? Out-of-towners could, conceivably, flock to the marijuana-happy states to take advantage of the law and buy, smoke and own small amounts of pot without worrying about cops' intervention. So … are folks in these states concerned, excited or freaked? Jennifer Rudolph of Colorado Ski Country USA, a trade association, said she was “watching [the pot tourism situation] closely” and that she and her cohorts were now "waiting for the smoke to clear." Chuckle chuckle. [Source]
