Letterman shakes up 'Late Show' staff in a serious attempt to be funny

1/19/2013

"The Late Show" is scrambling to spruce up its writing staff and fight off a challenge from Jimmy Kimmel, who just moved into the same timeslot. Longtime staffer Matt Roberts is now head writer, replacing 14-year veterans Justin and Eric Stangel, who are signed to Letterman's production company. (So they can't make like the "How I Met Your Mother" guys and walk off Letterman's set into a ratings bonanza.) Changing head writers is always a huge step, and it shows Letterman is taking Kimmel's advance very seriously. Expect a reboot of Dave's funny button in short order. And if he needs more writers, Katt Williams is probably looking to make some extra money. [Source]
