'Life of Pi' trailer offers hope for a not-depressing Ang Lee flick
7/25/2012Director Ang Lee has been known to churn out such despondency-inducing ventures as "The Ice Storm" and "Brokeback Mountain" (OK, there’s also "The Hulk," but that was depressing in an entirely different way for Marvel fans). The newly-released trailer for "Life of Pi," however, scheduled to hit multiplexes in November, promises more of a feel-good flick. Based on the novel by Yann Martel, the film relays the adventures of Pi, the only survivor of a sunken freighter who must fight against incredible odds at sea to live. The action-packed trailer's got a kick-ass lifeboat, a ferocious-turned-friendly Bengal tiger and such inspirational buzzwords as "hope" and "courage" sprinkled across the YouTube screen. Looks like a real picker-upper to us.
