Lindsey Stone at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington National Cemetery (Fire Lindsey Stone via Facebook)

We hope this woman thinks idiotic photo was worth getting fired for

11/22/2012

It turns out that decision to post a photo on Facebook of yourself appearing to shout near a "Silence and Respect" sign at a memorial for U.S. soldiers — while simultaneously flipping off the camera — wasn't the greatest one, as a Massachusetts woman has learned. Now-former nonprofit worker Lindsey Stone, who elicited speed-of-light backlash after posting the above photo from Arlington Cemetery, has been fired along with another worker from Living Independently Forever, an organization that helps adults with disabilities. The dismissal was reportedly largely in response to a viral "Fire Lindsey Stone" Facebook campaign, and we're guessing the whole incident isn't great resume fodder for Stone's future job prospects in anything that requires sensitivity.
