Lingerie football in the U.S. gives itself pink slip for 2012

4/12/2012

Looks as if this year, the Lingerie Football League is taking it off ... wait, let's start over. Having decided it's a spring-summer sport in the United States, the LFL is shutting down here until 2013. The game will go on in a new division in Canada -- where they seem just as excited that beer sales will be allowed at events, eh? -- and next year in Australia. That prompted commissioner Mitchell Mortaza to tell Examiner.com that it's "the fastest growing sports franchise in the world," which doesn't quite seem to square with the shuttering of 12 U.S. teams. A wistful fan base mourns, sort of: Tweeted @FOTProgram, "Back to Hooters, ladies."
