Odd or OK? Charity pays for bullied teen to get plastic surgery
8/10/2012After years of being cruelly taunted with names like "Dumbo" and "elephant ears," a 14-year-old Georgia girl named Nadia Ilse received $40,000 worth of free plastic surgery from a charity group called Little Baby Face Foundation. In addition to pinning the bullied adolescent's ears back, the nonprofit paid for rhinoplasty on her nose and mentoplasty to alter her chin. The teenager now says she looks "beautiful" with her new face. Nadia's case comes after a 13-year-old New Yorker got a nose job to overcome online harassment, and a 7-year-old from South Dakota had her ears pinned back due to bullying. Figures show that about 90,000 youths had plastic surgery in 2007. [Source]
