If you can sit and stand with ease, you'll live longer
12/14/2012Sit down. Get back up. How easy was that for you? If the answer is “Not very” you might not be long for this world. A new study has found that this simple test — having subjects sit on the floor and get back up — could predict longevity. The findings reported that elderly and middle-aged folks who had to use their hands and knees to get down and up were seven times more likely to die within six years than those who could complete the task without support. The test, said one of the researchers, was a peek at a patient’s ability to function on a daily basis. [Source]
