Football fan dies of heartbreak after team's losing streak

11/19/2012

As if the Kansas City Chiefs aren't already feeling bad enough about their dismal season, now they've got to deal with the guilt of killing a guy. According to Loren Lickteig's obituary, the 81-year-old fan died of "heartbreaking disappointment caused by the Kansas City football team." OK, and complications from multiple sclerosis. Lickteig didn't write the obit, but he loved the team so much he kept an array of Chiefs shirts: red for when they were doing well and black for when they were losing. "He was quite the jokester," says his daughter. "So this is his last laugh." The obit's now gone viral, with one sports fan tweeting "I feel ya LOREN." So Chiefs, can you win one for Lickteig?
