Louisiana to homeless shelter: Stop serving deer meat already
2/27/2013Guess we should be happy that someone's finally checking out the meat supply. Louisiana's health department forced a homeless shelter to destroy 1,600 pounds of venison (worth roughly $8,000) after receiving a complaint that deer meat was being served. Although the meat was processed at a slaughterhouse, the state couldn't verify it was killed, prepared, or stored correctly by the hunters who donated it, so they "threw it in the dumpster and poured Clorox on it," said the Rev. Henry Martin. With all this horse meat turning up everywhere, the government should count themselves lucky that shelters aren’t serving Soylent Green. [Source]
