School forces pregnancy tests on students they suspect are expecting
8/7/2012Kids at Delhi Charter School, La., who should be thinking about midterms and SATs, have another even more important test to contend with. Policy at the 600-student public school dictates that any student suspected of being pregnant must undergo a pregnancy test with a physician of the school’s choosing. If she fails — or refuses to take the test — she can be forced to continue her education from home, or study elsewhere. The American Civil Liberties Union has written to the school demanding the policy be scrapped, claiming it violates federal law and the Constitution’s education amendments. What we want to know is how school administrators can tell the difference between pregnant students and those just hitting the pork rinds a little too hard. [Source]
