Louvre debuts poorly timed Islamic art featuring Muhammad's face

Visits to the famed Louvre might be a little risky for the foreseeable future, as the museum has just opened its new $130 million Islamic art wing, which includes three images of Muhammad's face in its artwork. The project took 11 years to build and has resulted in a collection of 18,000 items that organizers hope will "foster understanding between the West and the Islamic world." However, with recent violent protests over the anti-Islam video "The Innocence of Muslims" and lewd caricatures of Muhammad published this week in a French satirical magazine, the inclusion of the pieces featuring Muhammad may not have the intended "highbrow and respectful" effect.
