Love says 'The Muppets' have 'raped' Cobain's memory
3/13/2012Courtney Love isn't feeling a rainbow connection over the use of Nirvana's music in "The Muppets." According to TMZ, Love says the 2011 movie "raped" the memory of Kurt Cobain by using the song "Smells Like Teen Spirit" and says the filmmakers did not ask for her OK.
Love sold off 25 percent of her rights to Nirvana's catalog in 2006 to a company called Primary Wave, which, along with surviving Nirvana members Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic, did approve the song's use.
