Sisters raise cash for sick friend by auctioning chance to rename them
11/26/2012What's in a name? For Lynda and Katy Grimmer, two sisters from Wellington, New Zealand, their lack of middle names was an opportunity to help their friend, Molly Frank, 18, who's gravely ill with cancer. Lynda, 19, and Katy, 21, offered complete strangers middle-naming rights in an online auction called "Ever wanted to rename two sisters?" The winning bid of $2,900 from an anonymous benefactor will be used by Frank and her family to take a longed-for holiday and sweetly, the sisters will now share the name of their friend at her request. Lynda Molly Grimmer and Katie Frank Grimmer, as they'll soon be officially known, said they're "over the moon" with the auction result. [Source]
