Rare lynx shot by apologetic trapper who just wanted to kill a bobcat

1/19/2013

Killing a bobcat in Idaho is apparently no big deal, but killing an endangered lynx comes with a stiff fine and a lot of headaches. That's why, if you can get past the whole "hunting" thing, you have to credit an unidentified man who accidentally killed a lynx, thinking it was a bobcat, in Boundary County, Idaho: He immediately turned himself in to wildlife officials. He'll end up paying around $400 in fines. The lynx, obviously, didn't get a happy ending, but officials say it will be mounted alongside a bobcat to help point out the differences between the species to hunters and trappers. [Source]
