Macy's Christmas tree goes timber while being lowered off roof
1/2/2013Christmas trees are great and all ... until they have to come down and join the trash pile. This much was made very clear to the team at a Macy's store in Atlanta. The shop's "Great Tree" caused great problems when the crane lowering it from the store's roof buckled and left the tree hanging off the side of the building. Thankfully no injuries were reported, but several large ornaments did fall to the street below. This is the second time in as many years that there's been a problem with the store's tree. Last year, the trunk of a 60-foot white pine cracked as it was being hoisted into position and a backup tree had to be cut. [Source]
