Even the Chinese prefer US-made stuff over cheap Chinese goods
11/15/2012Irony alert: It's not only Americans who prefer products that carry the "Made in USA" label to goods made in China, even if we sometimes have to pay a premium for them. Chinese consumers do, too. According to a study, 61 percent of Chinese consumers say they'd pay more for a U.S.-made product over a cheaper "Made in China" item because they expect them to be more durable and of higher quality. After scandals surrounding lead paint in Chinese-made toys and tainted milk, among other alarming recent events, Chinese consumers are "quietly concerned about what they're getting," the study’s co-author said.
