The film "12 Years a Slave" is based on the harrowing true story of Solomon Northrup, a free man who was kidnapped and sold into slavery before the American Civil War. But that emotionally charged story wasn't enough to capture Madonna's attention: She reportedly texted during the movie's premiere at the New York Film Festival. (She's shown above the movie's director, Steve McQueen.) When another audience member asked her to knock it off, she reportedly hissed “It’s for business … enslaver!” Four words manage to be offensive on multiple levels. Meanwhile in Texas, the Alamo Drafthouse theater chain has preemptively banned Madonna from visiting any of their cinemas. "Until she apologizes to movie fans, Madonna is banned from watching movies," CEO Tim League posted on Twitter, although he admitted that it probably "doesn't affect her life." Oh well, it's the thought that counts. [Source]
