For $1.6M, a cancer treatment could bear your name
9/4/2012For a cool $1.6 million, you can help fund a promising new cancer-fighting treatment -- and have the treatment named after you. Swedish researcher Magnus Essand believes he's identified a cancer-eating virus that could have cured Steve Jobs of his pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor with only the side effects of mild flu: no baldness or nausea. Unfortunately, he's run out of cash, so the virus is languishing on ice in his deep freezer; having published papers on his findings, his cure is un-patentable, so drug behemoths aren’t interested. But Essand is hoping a rock star, a tech wiz or a Good Samaritan will pony up the money. Hey, it's only $1.6 mill. [Source]
