Man allegedly robs drugstore with a blood-filled syringe
5/4/2012In one of the more unsettling true-crime stories you'll read, a Maryland man faces robbery and assault charges for the holdup of a CVS drugstore using a syringe filled with what he reportedly said was HIV-infected blood. According to police officers, alleged robber Benjamin Blessing held the tip of the syringe to the pharmacist's chest until she opened a safe filled with prescription medications. Blessing left with $27,000 worth of pills, which were later discovered in his home. "It's not something we've ever heard of here, a syringe being used as a weapon," a police spokesperson said. The Howard County authorities have sent the contents of the syringe for testing.
