Man figures gas station is the perfect place to sell bear cubs

6/8/2012

A California man is accused of taking a cage full of bear cubs to a gas station and attempting to sell them (yes, you read that right). The Department of Fish and Game confiscated the two cubs from Chris Puett, who told the authorities he'd shot and killed their mother in self-defense. Investigators couldn't locate the bear's body on his property, nor did Puett have injuries that indicated a bear attack. The cubs, believed to be between 4 and 6 months old, are now at a rehabilitation center and will be released into the wild over the winter. Puett, who could face a felony charge of selling wild animals, insists he "only wanted to find them a good home."
