Man gets serious burns after sunblock allegedly catches fire
6/3/2012A man who sprayed sunscreen on his chest and back to prevent sunburn found himself "engulfed in flames," as he says. At the time, Brett Sigworth was probably too frightened to appreciate the irony, but it's not lost on us what a spectacular failure the Banana Boat aerosol spray was at protecting his skin, as the fire reportedly spread only to areas of his body on which he'd applied the sunblock before he approached his charcoal barbecue grill. Sigworth has hired an attorney to approach the company about putting a detailed warning on the product if the sunscreen is indeed to blame. (Maybe another catchy jingle about getting on the "Banana Boat," but this time staying off the "Banana Ambulance"?)
Should Banana Boat be blamed, or should it be known aerosol sprays are flammable?
