There are career students, and then there is Michael Nicholson -- a 71-year-old Michigan man who really took a shine to academia. Nicholson is the recipient of 29 college degrees, and is currently at work on his 30th. Nicholson earned his first college diploma in 1963 (a bachelor's degree in religious education). He has since added a doctorate, two associate's degrees, three specialist degrees, and 22 master's degrees, and is currently at work on a master's in criminal justice. Nicholson, who said he'd like 33 or 34 diplomas, supported himself by working menial jobs so he could attend classes. He also eventually retired so he could be a full-time student.
