Well-intentioned man accidentally kidnaps someone's child

Art Deaner of New Jersey was helping out a pal by picking up her daughter, 6-year-old Courtney Fetter, from school. Deaner showed up, asked for Courtney, and drove off. Problem was, two Courtneys were waiting in the same spot for friends of the family to pick them up. Deaner got the wrong one, 9-year-old Courtney Durr. Deaner figured out something was wrong when he asked Durr about traveling to Maine to see Aunt Mary — and when she said she'd never been to the state, Deaner — presumably extremely freaked out — hightailed it back to the school. The Courtneys were swapped, and police cleared Deaner of any wrongdoing. [Source]
