Man saves massive 80-year-old lobster from dinner plate
7/25/2012Larry the lobster has lived through both world wars and the moon landing, and now he’ll get to live through a lot more, thanks to a Connecticut businessman who decided the elderly invertebrate was better off released into the Long Island Sound than on someone’s dinner plate. Don MacKenzie rescued the 17-pound, 80-year-old crustacean after it was purchased by The Dock Restaurant and reserved for someone’s dinner. MacKenzie won’t say what he paid for Larry but calls him the “most expensive lobster I never ate,” adding, “He doesn’t deserve a bib and butter. … He deserves to live." The sentimental savior even kept the rubber bands used to keep Larry’s claws closed. Aww. [Source]
Do you think MacKenzie did the right thing?
