Man says his granny wrote Jack Daniel's recipe
6/19/2012Forget about Lynchburg -- Jack Daniel's Tennessee Whiskey may have been born in Llanelli, South Wales. Welsh businessman Mark Evans was researching his family history when he discovered his great-great-grandmother's hand-written recipe for the black-label booze. Evans believes that his herbalist relative gave her ingredient list to her brother, John "Jack-the-Lad" Daniels, who left Wales for...wait for it...Lynchburg, Tennessee. The whiskey's history is admittedly murky since its early records were lost in a fire, but Evans' discovery does pre-date the drink's first batch, brewed in 1866. "We know our founder was from Wales," a Jack Daniel's spokesperson said. "We would love to see the book and the recipe."
