Man who doesn't want to be mayor accidentally elected

An accidental mayoral candidate whose own family didn't vote for him has won the election. Fabio Borsatti ran for mayor of Cimolais, Italy (pop: 507), as a last-minute favor to his friend, fellow candidate Gino Bertolo, fearing voters would shun the polls if Bertolo stood unopposed. Despite his lack of interest, the stunned 50-year-old won with 58% of the vote. "I find myself a mayor who didn't want to be a mayor," he said. "I wanted Gino to win." Bertolo says he "wasn't upset" about his friend's victory, which sounds like just the unflappable attitude you'd want in a mayor.
