Man who loved being buried alive dies doing what he loved

​One person's nightmare is another's dream ... that turns into a nightmare. Janaka Basnayake, a Sri Lankan 24-year-old, hoped to set a record for spending the longest time buried alive. Alas, the world may never know how long Basnayake survived in the 10-foot-deep ditch in which he had friends and family bury him around 9:30 a.m. Saturday. When he was uncovered around 4 p.m., Basnayake -- whose mom said he'd twice before been buried alive -- was unconscious, the Telegraph reports. He was rushed to the hospital and pronounced dead on arrival. Yes, very sad. But maybe "biggest paper clip collection" or "longest beard" would have been better records to beat?
