Breathe, Canada, your maple syrup thieves have been caught
12/18/2012Canada, your long national nightmare is over. Pancake lovers, rejoice! Three people with sticky fingers were arrested in conjunction with a massive theft of maple syrup from a warehouse in Quebec (which produces 80 percent of the world’s maple syrup). The sticky bandits were allegedly part of a group (five more suspects are being sought) that made off with an untold amount of syrup from a cache of 10 million pounds, which was valued at $30 million. Two-thirds of the stolen timber nectar was recovered, and police also seized vehicles and other equipment used in the incident. [Source]
