Mariel Hemingway says family — including grandpa Ernest — was cursed

Mariel Hemingway says the Kennedys aren't the only American family with a tragic curse. She says that her own family tree is built on misfortune, depression and mental illness. Seven members of Hemingway's family have committed suicide, including her famous grandfather, Ernest Hemingway. In "Running From Crazy," a documentary that debuted at the Sundance Film Festival, she opened up for the first time about her family's struggles, shocking moviegoers with the suggestion that her father sexually abused her sisters Margaux and Joan (Margaux committed suicide in 1996). "I think people need to talk about [mental illness]," Mariel said. "It doesn't shame anyone, and it doesn't make anybody's family an ugly, bad family." [Source]
