Marijuana could ease symptoms of MS sufferers

5/14/2012

People who suffer from multiple sclerosis may find that their symptoms of muscle tightness and pain can improve with the help of a little pot smoking. Spasticity is a symptom of MS that can cause muscle spasms, exaggerated reflexes and trouble walking, and a new study suggests that smoking marijuana could ease these often painful symptoms. Researchers studied 30 patients whose symptoms weren't helped by medications currently available and discovered that nearly a third of them experienced reduced symptoms when smoking marijuana. Despite the benefits though, some patients did report it became harder to pay attention and concentrate after they had smoked up.
