Newly released FBI files track the last years of Marilyn Monroe's life

12/28/2012

Newly uncensored files show that in the years before her death, Marilyn Monroe was heavily monitored by the FBI, who believed she had ties to the communist party. She caught the bureau's attention in 1955. For the next seven years, they kept tabs on her friends, entourage and travel plans. Until recently, Monroe's files were heavily redacted. Although much of the blacked-out information has been revealed, the documents don't provide any additional information about her 1962 death, ruled a probable suicide. According to the Associated Press, which fought for the release of the unaltered info, the FBI knew there were several theories that Monroe had been murdered (cough, Kennedys, cough) but didn't investigate them. [Source]
