Report claims Marines guarding embassy were denied live ammunition
9/13/2012As the situation outside the American embassy in Cairo continues to grow increasingly tense amid a controversial video that mocks the Prophet Muhammad, a Marine blog is stating that Marines there were not allowed to carry live ammunition. The blog NightWatch claims that U.S. ambassador to Egypt Anne Patterson "did not permit US Marine guards to carry live ammunition," and as a result, "she neutralized any US military capability that was dedicated … to protect the US embassy." NightWatch does not name the source of its information, and State Department officials would not discuss embassy security details. [Source]
