Reasonable radiation levels keep the dream of humans on Mars alive
11/18/2012And now for some more good news for your plan to move to Mars and colonize the red planet with other sci-fi-loving space dorks. After three months of roaming, NASA's ever-amazing Curiosity rover has found that radiation levels on Mars appear comparable to those at the International Space Station, meaning the risk is unlikely to be prohibitive to a manned mission by astronauts (or, of course, to your future Olympus Mons-facing timeshare.) The announcement comes as great hope among space circles, which have long expressed concern that radiation might prevent any manned exploration of the planet. Can we be next in line to go? [Source]
