If landing on Mars wasn't cool enough for you, here's high-def video

This high-def footage of the Mars landing looks like the best roller coaster we’ll never get to take. Now that it has safely landed on the Red Planet, the Curiosity rover is sending back high-resolution, never-before-seen pictures -- and it's those images that visual effects editor Daniel Luke Fitch assembled into this 49-second clip. (In the few cases where no high-res pics were available, low-res ones were subbed in.) As Wired reports, the images were tweaked to improve "noise reduction, color balance, and sharpening."
