Alleged burglar blames snow pants for inability to properly flee cops
3/4/2013You should reconsider your burglary career if your daring escape resembles the snowsuit scene from "A Christmas Story." (You know, that '80s holiday classic.) Des Moines, Iowa, man Martin Thicklen was interrupted during his alleged robbery of a house by the house's owner, and he responded by getting into his truck and repeatedly ramming her car, she said. Police showed up and arrested Thicklen after a brief chase; he told his arresting officer that "his thick overclothes were slowing him down and he would have been able to run faster if he wasn't wearing snow pants." The officer then presumably patted him on the head and said, "I know you could've, champ. I know." [Source]
