Woman suing Match.com after meeting man, getting stabbed

1/25/2013

We’ve all had online dating nightmares, but Mary Kay Beckman's date from hell nearly killed her, she says. Literally. Beckman was stabbed 10 times and had her head stomped on in 2011. She says her attacker was Wade Ridley, a man she briefly dated after meeting on Match.com in September 2010. Ridley later allegedly killed another woman he met on the dating site, and committed suicide in prison. Beckman is now suing Match for $10 million, saying its screening process doesn't do enough to keep violent offenders off the site, and wants a disclaimer similar to those found on cigarette packages warning users of potential dangers.
