2/19/2013Some politicians still haven't quite grasped how the human body works. Among them is Rep. Mary Sue McClurkin (R-Ala.), who claimed in a recent interview that "when a physician removes a child from a woman, that is the largest organ in a body." (The skin is actually the largest organ, and fetuses and children are not considered bodily organs.) She continued: "That's a big thing. That's a big surgery. You don't have any other organs in your body that are bigger than that." McClurkin is pushing for legislation that would impose restrictions on abortion clinics, a bill she says is not intended to ban abortions. [Source]
