A bill to legalize marijuana has been introduced in the House of Delegates which would make weed legal for adults 21 and over in Maryland. The bill also ensures that a tax of $50 per ounce will come into effect on wholesale marijuana sales and direct proceeds, which would fund treatment programs for alcohol, tobacco and drug abuse. Introduced by Baltimore Democrat Curt Anderson, the bill nominates the Maryland comptroller to license marijuana retail stores, wholesale facilities and testing facilities.
