Math geeks try to gauge why this class has 12 sets of twins
5/8/2012Come graduation day at Brookwood High School in Snellville, Ga., 12 sets of twins are set to receive their diplomas. Twenty-four twins in one high school class? What are the odds? Ginny Hanley, an AP calculus teacher at Brookwood, tells the Gwinnett Daily Post she'd need a bit more information to calculate the statistical probability, but allows that "it's got to be a rare thing." The "12 Twins of 2012" haven't set any records, though. Iowa's Valley Southwoods Freshman High School claims the Guinness title for most twins in the same academic year, boasting 16 sets in a ninth-grade class of 711 students. That's a lot of matching clothes.
