'Matrix' director officially comes out as transgender

Director Larry Wachowski had long been the subject of rumors concerning his sexual identity. Wachowski recently put those rumors to an end by coming out as transgender, now identifying as Lana Wachowski. The revelation came during a promotional clip for her new film “Cloud Atlas,” which she co-directed with her brother, Andy, and German filmmaker Tom Tykwer. In the video, Wachowski introduces herself as “Lana,” sporting a dress and pink dreadlocks. Wachowski -- who wrote and directed “The Matrix” films -- had been the subject of gossip items since 2002 after photos of her at an S&M club led to a divorce from then-wife Thea Bloom. [Source]
